Georgia Arson Control

The Georgia Arson Control Program, Inc. (GAC) was formed in January of 1979 by property/casualty insurers writing business in Georgia. With the cooperation of the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner as well as state and local law enforcement agencies, GAC set up a toll-free Arson Hotline with a rewards fund from which monetary rewards up to $10,000 are given to individuals who come forward with information that results in the arrest and conviction of arsonists.
The Board of Directors of GAC is composed of representatives from both national and Georgia-based insurance companies as well as insurance industry trade associations. The GAC is housed and funded by the Georgia Underwriting Association which functions as a residual insurance market in order that basic property and liability insurance may be made available to all Georgians.
